In an endeavour to develop research aptitude in science students, PG Department of Physics, D.A.V. College, Jalandhar provided the opportunity to the students to visit the Research Laboratories of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar on 16th February 2024. This educational trip was accompanied and supervised by Prof. Rahul Sekhri and Dr. Shivani Dhall. Dr. Rohit Mehra, Professor, Department of Physics, NIT Jalandhar, welcomed the students and gave the opportunity to visit the research lab. In the lab, the research scholars of the NIT Jalandhar demonstrated experimental set-ups and provisions available in the research lab.
Initially, students visited radiation lab. and explored various equipments such as LEAD Fluorimeter, Atomic and Absorption Spectrometer to measure the concentration of Uranium and pH level of water samples. Students also got the opportunity to investigate the soil and its properties under the guidance of Ms. Aarti, Ms. Neha and Mr. Vishvajeet. After that, students explored the dielectric properties of materials by changing temperature in Material Science Lab under the supervision of Dr. Kiran Singh.
In the Nano Science Lab, students were demonstrated the various sophisticated instruments such as Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer. These instruments play significant role in analysis of 2D materials.
In last, the research scholars explained the methodology to examine the electrical properties of thin films using Four Probe Method in thin film lab.
The motive of this event was to provide insights and understanding of research in diverse areas. The Department of Physics D.A.V. College Jalandhar expresses gratitude towards the Principal, Dr. Rajesh Kumar and Dr. Kunwer Rajeev, HOD, PG Department of Physics.
