The two day Science Exhibition & Quiz Contest being organised by the DAV College has inaugurated by Sh. R Venketrattnam, Divisional Commissioner Jalandhar in the 29 January 2014 morning at 10.00 am. More than 400 students from 15 colleges and 22 schools participated in Model presentation, Poster making and Quiz contest. Principal Dr. B B Sharma, welcomed the Chief Guest. He appreciated the efforts of students in preparing models and posters based on various scientific principles. The chief guest exhorted the students to learn from heart and be original rather than cramming from books and this kind of learning comes from such activities. Dr Hemant Sharma, Convenor of the exhibition conducted the stage and emphasized that scientific learning always comes from raising inqueries of What? How? And Why?. Prof. T D Sianin, Co-ordinator for the exhibition, told that 160 models and 135 posters representing different branches of sciences were displayed.

            Quiz contest for Junior Category (For students of 10+1 and 10+2 classes) was conducted by Prof. (Mrs.) Sharanjit Kaur Sandhu of Physics Department of DAV College Jalandhar. Out of 16 teams five teams were shortlisted after written screening test. The team from Swami Sant Das School scored First, team from Apeejay (APJ) School Mahavir Marg stood Second and the team from DAV Collegiate school stood Third.

            Dr. Navjeet Sharma and Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Organizing Secretaries of the event told the Quiz contest for senior category (Students of undergraduate classes) and judgement of models and posters will held on 30 January 2014. Dr. Neelam Gulati Sharma, Director (Popularization of Science), Punjab State Council of Science & Technology, Chandigarh, will be the chief guest for the valedictory and prize distribution function on second day i.e. 30 January 2014.

Prof. P K Kapur (Vice Principal), Prof. P K Sharma (Vice Principal), Prof. Ajay Aggarwal (Head of Mathematics Department), Prof. A K Trivedi ( Head of Geography Department),  Dr. Satish Sharma (Physics Department), Prof. Nishay Bahl (Head of Computer Science), Dr. Renuka Malhotra (Head of Biotechnology department), Dr. Komal Arora (Head of Botany Department), Prof. Punit Puri and Dr. Deepak Wadhawan of Zoology Department were also present the this science exhibition.

Science Exhibition and Quiz Contest on 29th January 2014

Jalandhar :Nine science Department of the DAV College are organizing Science Exhibition and Quiz Contest supported by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India on January 29-30, 2014. The science students from many other schools and colleges will display models and posters and will also take part in Quiz Contest. Prof. T D Saini, Co-ordinator and Head Department of Physics, told that students from other schools and colleges and even public are invited to visit the Exhibition.

Dr. Hemant Kumar, Convernor told that the exhibition will be inaugurated by the Divisional Commissioner, Sh. R. Vankatratanam at 10:00 am on January 29, 2014. The Prize distribution function will be held at 2:30 pm on January 30, 2014. The prizes will be given by Dr. Neelam Gulati Sharma, Scientist G, Director (Popularisation of Science), Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Chandigarh. Principal Dr. B B Sharma also told that DAV College Jalandhar regularly organise such event to motivate the students for scientific thinking.
