DAV College Jalandhar has once again brought laurels to the region with the selection of its student, Arjun Rajput of BBA-I, to the India Under-19 Cricket Team. The achievement reinforces the institution’s long-standing commitment to nurturing excellence in sports alongside academics.
Arjun has already established himself as one of the most promising young cricketers in the state. Earlier, he represented Punjab in the prestigious Vinoo Mankad Trophy and captained the Punjab Under-16 team to a title-winning campaign, earning accolades for both his leadership skills and cricketing talent.
To celebrate this remarkable achievement, a warm welcome was accorded to Arjun during his visit to the college. The reception was led by Principal Dr Anoop Kumar and attended by Dr Manu Sood, Head, Department of Physical Education; Dr Kunwer Rajeev, Vice Principal; Prof Ashok Kapoor, Registrar; and Prof Sharad Manocha. Arjun was accompanied by his coach Sh. Ankur and his elder brother Karan Rajput.
Dr Punam Suri, Padma Shri awardee and President, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, also conveyed his blessings and best wishes to Arjun Rajput. He expressed confidence that the young cricketer would make the nation proud through his talent, discipline and dedication, and continue to uphold the rich sporting traditions of the DAV institutions.
Congratulating Arjun, Dr Anoop Kumar said, “The selection of Arjun Rajput to the India Under-19 Cricket Team is a matter of immense pride not only for DAV College Jalandhar but for the entire region. At DAV, we have always believed in identifying talent, nurturing it with care and dedication, and presenting it to the world after chiselling and polishing it to excellence. Arjun’s achievement reflects his hard work, the guidance of his mentors and the supportive ecosystem that the college strives to provide. I am confident that he will continue to scale greater heights and bring glory to the nation.”
Expressing his gratitude, Arjun Rajput said, “It is a dream come true to represent India at the Under-19 level. I am thankful to my family, my coach Sh. Ankur, my teammates and the management of DAV College Jalandhar for their constant encouragement and support. The college has always motivated me to balance academics and sports and pursue my goals with dedication. This selection is only the beginning, and I will continue to work hard to justify the faith reposed in me.”
Dr Manu Sood lauded Arjun’s discipline, dedication and commitment to the game and expressed confidence that his success would inspire many aspiring cricketers to follow in his footsteps.
