National Seminar on “Critical Thinking and Philosophizing” on March 16, 2026 to commemorate World Philosophy Day organized by the P.G. Department of Mathematics and the Department of Philosophy

     DAV College, Jalandhar Organizes National Seminar on World Philosophy Day,  March 16:

Under the leadership of Principal Dr. Anoop Kumar, National Coordinator (Colleges), DAVCMC, DAV College, Jalandhar organized a National Seminar on “Critical Thinking and Philosophizing” on March 16, 2026 to commemorate World Philosophy Day. The seminar was jointly organized by the P.G. Department of Mathematics and the Department of Philosophy with financial support from the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), New Delhi.
The programme began with the traditional Tilak ceremony, lighting of the ceremonial lamp, and the rendition of the DAV Gaan. Principal Dr. Anoop Kumar, Vice Principal Dr Kunwer Rajeev and Prof Sonika Dania accorded green welcome to all the resource persons. In his Inaugural adress, Dr. Anoop Kumar highlighted the importance of philosophy in nurturing ethical awareness, intellectual clarity, and analytical thinking among students.
The keynote speaker Dr. Satish Kapoor spoke on the significance of critical thinking in academic life and responsible decision-making. During session II Mr. Kanwarpreet Singh discussed the role of philosophical reflection in strengthening logical reasoning and how it matters in everyday life Dr. Aditya K. Gupta, in his adress, emphasized the value of questioning and dialogue in higher education. He stressed upon the need of holistic reasoning with relevant examples from ancient Indian literature. Sh. J. C. Joshi (Principal Retd.) shared insightful views on the philosophical foundations of reflective and independent thinking.
The seminar was meticulously organized and coordinated by the faculty members of the host departments. Prof. Monish Arora, HoD Mathematics, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the academic relevance of the seminar. Prof. Ranjita Guglani, Coordinator of the event, introduced the theme and later presented the report of the day. Dr. Dinesh Arora (Prof. Incharge Philosophy) contributed significantly to the overall coordination of the seminar activities. Dr. Seema Sharma supervised the welcome arrangements, while Dr. Ashu Bahl managed the registration process with the assistance of Ms. Prerna. The hospitality arrangements were overseen by Prof. Sahil Nagpal with support from Dr. Isha, and Prof. Jasmeen Kaur efficiently conducted the proceedings as the stage coordinator.
The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members from various departments including Dr. S. K. Khurana, Dr. Nischay Bahl, Dr Komal Arora Dr. Naveen Sood, Dr. Manoj, Prof. Pankaj Gupta, Dr. Sharanjeet, Prof. Ritu Talwar, Dr. Rajan Sharma, Dr. Lalit Goyal, Prof. Shweta, Dr. Ekjot Kaur, Dr. Balwinder Singh, Dr. Saruchi and students. In the concluding session, the dignitaries distributed prizes for the photography competition based on the theme “Philosophy in Real Life.”
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Dinesh Arora, expressing gratitude to the speakers, participants, and the Indian Council of Philosophical Research for their support. The programme concluded with a group photograph and lunch, marking a meaningful and intellectually enriching celebration of World Philosophy Day.
