National Science Day 2025 Celebrated: Organised by PG Department of Chemistry, Catalysed and Supported by PSCST and NCSTC.

PG Department of Chemistry, DAV College, Jalandhar, Celebrates National Science Day 2025, Catalyzed and Supported by PSCST and NCSTC.
The PG Department of Chemistry at DAV College, Jalandhar, vibrantly celebrated National Science Day 2025 under the theme “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat.” The event, held on 24 March 2025, was catalyzed and sponsored by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology and the National Council for Science and Technology Communications, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. It aimed to ignite scientific curiosity and foster innovation among students.
The day began with a formal inauguration, during which students were registered and provided with kits to facilitate their participation in the day’s activities. Dr. S.K. Tuli, Senior Vice Principal, extended his blessings and commended the department. Dr Manpreet conducted the stage and set the scene for a wonderful event to follow. Prof. Sheetal Aggarwal, Head of Department, provided an insightful introduction to the event and the esteemed speaker, Dr. Gaurav Bhargava, Professor and Head of the Chemistry Department at PTU, Kapurthala.
The celebration featured a diverse range of interactive and engaging activities designed to test and enhance students’ scientific knowledge and creativity.
* Model Display: Students showcased their innovative ideas through captivating models, addressing contemporary challenges and highlighting emerging technologies. The event, overseen by Dr. Aman and Dr. Sonika, was judged by Dr. Pooja Sharma and Dr. Ashu Bahl.
* Quiz Competition: A stimulating quiz, conducted by Dr. Savneet, tested students’ scientific trivia and knowledge.
* Science Bowl: This fast-paced competition, led by Dr. Pooja and Dr. Isha, and judged by Dr. Sharanjit and Prof. Naresh Kumar, challenged students to provide concise answers to everyday science questions within a minute.
* Chembola: A unique science-themed version of Tambola, organized by Dr. Manpreet and Dr. Shilpa, provided an entertaining way to reinforce scientific concepts.
After the various competitions, students were provided with refreshments, allowing them to rejuvenate and interact with fellow participants.
The day culminated in a valedictory function where Dr. Gaurav Bhargava shared his wisdom on the theme, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the need for young scientists to address global challenges with innovative solutions. He emphasized the crucial role of fundamental research in driving technological advancements and promoting sustainable development.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar applauded the students’ enthusiasm and motivated them to pursue scientific careers, emphasizing the importance of a scientific temper in nation-building and personal growth. He also appreciated the department’s efforts in organizing such a successful event. He acknowledged the innovation put in by the project coordinator and HOD for streamlining the events. He especially thanked Dr. K.S. Bath, Joint Director, and Dr. Mandakini Thakur, Project Scientist, PSCST, for their financial assistance.

Project Coordinator Prof. Tnu Mahajan delivered a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the sponsors, organizers, and all who contributed to the event’s success, highlighting the collaborative spirit that made the day possible. Prof. Tnu also gave a special thanks to PSCST and NCSTC for their financial support.
The event successfully fostered scientific inquiry and collaboration, empowering youth for global leadership. The students’ enthusiastic participation and innovative projects highlighted India’s immense scientific potential, leaving a lasting impact.
