The Department of Mathematics proudly showcased its ambitious project “Infinitum Mathèmatique – The Mathematics Gallery,” established under the DBT Star College Scheme on Feburary 6, 2026. The programme began with a formal welcome of the Chief Guest Principal Dr. Anoop Kumar followed by DAV Gaan. Dr. Anoop was accorded a green welcome by the Head of the Department, Prof. Monish Arora. In his welcome speech, Prof. Arora presented an insightful introduction to the vision and objectives of the Mathematics Gallery and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to DBT (GoI) for this enabling the department with creation of such an inspiring initiative.
Principal Dr. Anoop Kumar in his address emphasized the importance of experiential learning and highlighted the practical applications of mathematics in real-world problem solving.
A special highlight of the occasion was a thoughtfully curated video presentation by DBT Coordinator, Dr. Ashu Bahl, offering a virtual tour of the gallery and showcasing the creativity and dedication of the faculty as well as students. The gallery arrangements were efficiently coordinated by Dr. Seema Sharma, Incharge of the Gallery, while Dr. Sharanjit Sandhu, Dean, Research and Development Cell, graced the event and appreciated the initiative.
The programme was smoothly conducted by Prof. Ranjita, and the mathematical models were meticulously arranged by Prof. Jasmeen Kaur. Students actively engaged with the exhibits, working hands-on with the models and understanding the underlying mathematical concepts in an interesting and interactive manner.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Prof. Sahil Nagpal, President, Bansi Lal Mathematical Society.
Aligned with NEP 2020, the gallery promotes experiential learning, making mathematics engaging, meaningful, and application-oriented.
