A DBT Sponsored National Seminar on “Newer  trends in food  processing and technology’ was organized by Department of Food Science & Technology D.A.V. College, Jalandhar to make the students more aware about the growing advancement in the sector of food processing. The Chief Guest Dr. R. L. Bassan- Civil Surgeon, Jalandhar and other eminent speakers were welcomed by Vice principals Prof. P.K.Kapoor, Prof. P.K.Sharma, Head of Deptt. Prof. Bhartendu Singla, Prof. Anu Gupta and Prof. Pankaj Gupta and other teachers. Prof. Bhartendu Singla delivered the welcome address and stressed food industries should adopt newer processing techniques to face the global competition. Expressive talks were delivered by Resource persons Prof. Naveen Gupta from P.U., Chandigarh on food Enzymes, Prof.  H.R. Naik from Agriculture University, Srinagar, on Post Harvest Management of crops,

Prof. Sumit Arora from NDRI, Karnal on Fortification of Milk, Prof. D.C. Sexana from SLIET, Longowal on Sources of Starch.

Students and teachers from other institutes also participated in the seminar. Prashant Sahni of BFST IV got Ist prize in poster presentation and Neeti Sharma a student of M.Tech. in Pharma Food and Neutraceuticals Biotechnology in the Deptt. of  Life Sc, PIT got Ist prize in Paper Presentation. Other teachers Prof. Jaswinder Randawa , Prof. Dimple, Prof. Raj, Prof. Preetika & Prof Swati also attended the seminar.
