Under the visionary leadership of Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar, DAV College Jalandhar hosted a thought-provoking Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled โ€œPassion or Liability โ€“ Teaching, Research, Mentoring; Where Do We Stand?โ€ on April 9, 2025. Organized by Star DBT Departments in collaboration with the R&D Cell, the event brought together esteemed academicians and faculty from multiple departments.
At the very outset, the resource person Dr. Himender Bharti was accorded a formal welcome with a bouquet and planter presentation by Principal, Overall DBT Coordinator Dr. Punit Puri and Dean, R&D Cell Dr. Ashu Bahl.
Dr. Puri then formally introduced the keynote speaker, Dr. Himender Bharti. With genuine admiration, Dr. Puri highlighted Dr. Bhartiโ€™s illustrious academic journey, noting his pioneering contributions to the fields of Zoology and Environmental Sciences.
In his visionary address, Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar set the tone for the day. Emphasizing the theme of the FDP, Dr. Kumar highlighted the nuanced balance between passion and responsibility in academia. Teaching must stem from the heart โ€” not just the head,” he stated, encouraging faculty to reconnect with the joy of inspiring young minds.
Vice Principal Prof. Sonika Dania and HoDs of DBT-supported departments Dr P K Sharma, Dr Bhartendru Singla and Dr Renuka graced the occasion.
The highlight of the event was the keynote address by Dr. Himender Bharti from Department of Zoology & Environmental Sciences, Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr. Bharti captivated the audience with his comprehensive insights into securing research grants. He elaborated effectively on the intricacies of grant writing โ€” from structuring proposals to articulating objectives. His session underscored the importance of collaborative research, lively teaching methodologies, and meaningful mentoring in shaping the future of higher education. During interaction session, various queries by DBT departmental coordinators Dr Sharanjeet Sandhu, Dr Deepak Wadhawan and Dr Sanjay Sharma were well satisfied by Dr. Bharti.
The session concluded with certificate distribution and a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Ashu Bahl, Dean, R&D Cell. A group photograph marked the close of this enlightening FDP. A total of more than 70 faculty members attended the event.
