DAV College Jalandhar organized the ICPR-sponsored Periodic Lecture-III on March 27, 2025, on the theme โBasic Values Embodied in the Indian Knowledge System and Their Relevance.โ The event was conducted by the PG Department of Political Science in collaboration with departments of Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, History, Geography, and Economics.
Dr. Aditya Kumar Gupta, Associate Professor of Philosophy, University of Delhi, delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the foundational principles of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) including Advaita, Dharma, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, Niskama Karma, Lok Sangraha, and harmony with nature. He linked these values to the Upanishads and discussed their importance in overcoming modern issues like stress, anxiety, and moral decline. He also emphasized how NEP-2020 has rightly highlighted IKS in education.
Dr. Shiv Kumar Tuli, Senior Vice-Principal, formally welcomed Dr. Gupta and appreciated his academic contributions. He encouraged students to explore IKS more deeply.
The session saw enthusiastic student participation, with a lively interaction exploring the philosophical dimensions of IKS.
Dr. Dinesh Arora proposed the vote of thanks, underlining the global relevance of IKS in promoting ethical living and societal harmony. He also expressed gratitude to ICPR, New Delhi, for their support.
The event witnessed active participation from faculty members including Dr. Raj Kumar, Dr. Suresh Khurana, Dr. S.J. Talwar, Prof. Sunil Oberoi, Prof. Kuldeep Khullar, Dr. Isha, Dr. Venus Goyal, Prof. Atul, Prof. Neeru Sharma, and Dr. Ritu Talwar. The program was compered by Ms. Muskan Sharma and Ms. Rashmi.
