DAV College Jalandhar organized an ICPR-sponsored lecture on “Historical Roots of Indian Civilization and Relevance in Modern Times.” The event was hosted by the Department of Political Science in collaboration with History, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Geography, and Economics.
The keynote speaker, Prof. (Dr.) Sukhdev Singh Sohal (former HoD, History & Social Sciences, GNDU Amritsar), shared deep insights into India’s historical evolution and its modern relevance. Renowned for his research and mentorship, Dr. Sohal explored four key themes:




Dr. Sohal emphasized that nationalism can be exclusive, but India must strive for an inclusive civilizational state. He encouraged the younger generation to embrace this ethos for a progressive future.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar welcomed the distinguished speaker, urging students to engage with historical perspectives. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session and a vote of thanks by Dr. Raj Kumar (History) on behalf of Programme Coordinator Dr. Dinesh Arora. Faculty members from Social Sciences graced the occasion.
