The AFST society of the Department of Food Science & Technology organized a Food Mela under the DBT Star College Scheme, guided by Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar. The event encouraged students’ creativity and innovation in food preparation, with the theme “Ready-to-Eat Organic Foods.”
Under the mentorship of Prof. Bhartendu Singla (HOD), Prof. Anu Gupta (Coordinator DBT), and Prof. Pankaj Gupta (In-charge AFST), students showcased innovative food products like thandai, protein bars, millet chips, fruit drink powders, amla candy, tea masala, soy milk, and more. They also presented posters on diet and health to promote healthy eating habits and developed food adulteration testing kits to detect impurities in milk, honey, and desi ghee.
Dr. S.K. Tuli (Senior Vice Principal) praised the initiative, highlighting how such events nurture students’ entrepreneurial skills in the food industry. Dr. Kunwer Rajeev (Vice Principal), Prof. Sonika Dania (Registrar), and faculty members attended and appreciated the students’ dedication. Prof. Singla congratulated the winners and extended a vote of thanks.
