DAV College Jalandhar Hosts Debate on ‘Digital Dopamine: Is Instagram Addictive by Design?’
Jalandhar, March 19, 2025: Under the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar, DAV College Jalandhar’s Postgraduate Department of Computer Science organized a compelling debate titled “Digital Dopamine: Is Instagram Addictive by Design?” The event, held in the Computer Science Seminar Hall, aimed to explore the intricate relationship between social media platforms and user engagement.
Dr. Nischay Bahl, Head of the Computer Science Department, played a pivotal role as both a judge and a guiding force behind the event, emphasizing the importance of critically examining technology’s impact on society.
Coordinated and chaired by Prof. Namarta Kapoor, the debate featured spontaneous team assignments, challenging students to articulate well-researched arguments on both sides of the topic. The panel of judges, comprising Dr. Nischay Bahl, Prof. Ritika Sobti, and Prof. Gagan Madaan (President, IT Forum), provided insightful evaluations of the participants performances.The team arguing against the motion emerged victorious, presenting compelling arguments that challenged the notion of Instagram’s design being inherently addictive.
