Women Empowerment and Grievance Redressal Cell, D.A.V. College Jalandhar celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2025 in the college campus.
Principal (Officiating) Dr. S.K.Tuli, Vice- Principal Prof. Kunwer Rajeev, Registrar Prof. Sonika Dania and members of the Women Cell welcomed the chief guest with a planter, memento and a phulkari . The event commenced with the recitation of ‘DAV GAAN’.
Dr. Deepali Handa, convener, Women Empowerment and Grievance Redressal Cell formally introduced and welcomed the chief guest and highlighted the various activities organized by the cell and the importance of a women oriented cell functioning in the college under able guidance of Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar.
Madam Divya Nanda, conducted an interactive session on ‘Financial Literacy Among Women’.
She discussed the importance of funds management by the women in their lives. She emphasised that women should share the burden of financial management with their life partners by learning and taking interest in fund management for the basic needs of the household like the annual maintenance of various commodities. She highlighted the importance of health insurance now a days in everybody’s life along with the need to regularly check with the banks regarding rates of interest and other terms and conditions. She enlightened the audience about the higher rate of interest given by RBL bank to its customers as compared to other competitors in the market.
Making her talk interactive, she also conducted a quiz in which female faculty members and students participated with a lot of vigour and enthusiasm. Prizes were distributed to the winners – Dr. Rajwant Kaur, Dr. Seema, Prof Lekha Jinda, Prof. Geetika, Prof. Ashima, Prof. Suruchi, Prof. Reena, and Prof. Hina. A beautiful poem titled – “TUM KHOOBSURAT HO” was recited by Prof. Geetika on the occasion.
The stage was meticulously conducted by Dr. Preety Aneja. The formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Komal Soni and the programme concluded with the ‘RASHTRIYA GAAN’.
The members of the Women Empowerment and Grievance Redressal Cell of the college Dr. Deepali Handa, Dr. Kirandeep Kaur, Dr. Komal Soni, Dr. Preety, Prof. Geetika, Dr. Varun Dev Vasishtha, Dr.Sapna Sharma, Dr. Kapila Mahajan, Prof. Hina Arora, Prof. Kuldeep Kullar and many female faculty members along with female students were present.
