MathsArena@2025 : National Mathematics Day celebrated at DAV College, Jalandhar on Feb. 20, 2025.
Department of Mathematics (DBT Star College department), DAV College, Jalandhar, celebrated National Mathematics Day MathsArena@2025 with great enthusiasm on February 20, 2025. Supported by NCSTC, DST (Government of India), and PSCST, Chandigarh, the event was a vibrant tribute to the world of numbers and logic. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar presided the inaugural session, conducted by Dr. Seema Sharma. The session began with the ceremonial lamp lighting to invoke divine blessings and was followed by reverberating DAV Anthem. HoD, Dr. SK Tuli, along with organizing secretary Dr. Ashu Bahl, warmly welcomed the Principal with a floral greeting. In his address, Dr. Tuli shared the illustrious history of the college and the department of Mathematics while also reflecting on the significance of National Mathematics Day. He also expressed his gratitude towards NCSTC, DST (Government of India), and PSCST, Chandigarh for supporting this mega event. Principal Dr.
Rajesh Kumar, in his speech, underscored the interdisciplinary nature of Mathematics and its relevance in various spheres of life, offering his blessings and good wishes to the students.
Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kanwar, UIET, PU Chandigarh, a distinguished researcher and academician, graced the event as resource person. The Principal extended a warm welcome to the resource person by presenting him with a green planter, a souvenir and a ceremonial shawl. The gesture symbolized the College’s appreciation and respect for the guest’s valuable contributions. Dr. Kanwar delivered an enlightening talk on “Exploring Root finding Algorithms: From Classical Methods to Modern Approaches” and provided the students with invaluable insights into the field of research.
The event featured a range of exciting competitions, including a quiz, extempore, model exhibitions and origami-each designed to highlight the beauty, interdisciplinary importance and practical applications of Mathematics.
