DBT sponsored 3-Day Hands-On Training Program on LaTeX at DAV College Jalandhar.
The Department of Mathematics at DAV College, Jalandhar, successfully concluded its 3-day hands-on training program on LaTeX held from 27-29 January 2025. The workshop, held under the DBT Star College Scheme, received immense support and appreciation from Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar.
Dr. SK Tuli, HoD of Mathematics and Vice Principal, formally welcomed the resource person, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar, and Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar. Dr. Tuli briefed attendees on the DBT Star College Scheme and its significance.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar honored Prof. Kumar with a planter and presented souvenirs as a token of appreciation. In his address, Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar emphasized the importance of such workshops in enhancing academic writing and formatting skills.
Prof. Rakesh Kumar elaborated on the significance of mathematical symbols, equations, and scientific formatting needs when preparing research articles, project reports, theses, and dissertations. Participants learned step-by-step, from installing LaTeX software to mastering its features, such as document layout, font styles, and inserting mathematical symbols.
Valedictory Session :
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session, where students promised to continue practicing and mastering LaTeX. Dr. Ashu Bahl, DBT Coordinator of the Department, expressed her gratitude to the resource person, Principal, and participants. The stage was conducted by President Bansilal Mathematical Society Ms. Ranjita Guglani.
Among the 26 attendees, faculty members Dr. P K Sharma, Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Sharanjit Sandhu, Mr. Sahil Nagpal, and Ms. Jasmeen Kaur participated in the workshop.
The 3-day workshop proved to be a highly valuable learning experience, enhancing participants’ skills in academic writing and formatting.
