(Under DBT STAR COLLEGE SCHEME)

OUR PROFILE: INTRODUCING OURSELVES

DAV College was established in 1918 in the sacred memory of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati to impart modern knowledge along with the Vedic traditions to the youth of contemporary India. DAV College, Jalandhar has entered into the 105th year and has established itself as an academic giant with matchless service of growth and grooming of youth in this part of the country. Guided by the missionary zeal and visionary approach of its Founding Fathers, the college is constantly evolving, improving and updating itself to be one-up against the challenges of a swiftly changing world environment with globalization and advancements in the social, technological, economic and political landscape, it becomes imperative for us to acquire new ways of thinking and new concepts of perceiving reality. This paradigm shift towards a new world order compels us to ‘Innovate’. For this, We DAVians at Jalandhar are always taking up the challenges, finding opportunities and devising changes to foster developments. We believe in adjusting the existing educational systems into a system that is universal and holistic, thus making every student a ‘global’ student.

DAV College Jalandhar at present is one of the largest academic centres of North India imparting instructions in Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Food Science & Technology and Media Studies. The DAV College is recognised by Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, New Delhi under DST-FIST Scheme. Our college is also recognised under ‘DBT-Star College Scheme by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, New Delhi.

ABOUT PG DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS

Department of Physics was established in 1925 with the introduction of F. Sc. (Non-Medical) under the Chairmanship of Prof. A.K Soni. In the year 1999, under the Headship of Prof. S.C Kakkar and with the sincere efforts of Principal Subhash Kumar, Post-graduation was introduced in the Department of Physics. This Department was the first among all colleges in the State to start the M.Sc. in Physics. The Department of Physics is facilitated with well- equipped labs, library, seminar hall and research lab. The faculty members of Department of Physics are highly qualified and actively participating in research development activities. Four research projects (1 major and 3 minor) have been successfully completed by faculty members and one research project is still going on. Three students successfully completed their doctoral degrees by using departmental research facilities. The Department of Physics received grant from DST under FIST scheme (2009-2015). The Department of Physics is presently supported by DBT Star College Scheme, Government of India. The Department has been organizing Conferences/Workshops/Seminars in various topics such as High-energy Physics, Material science, Transport phenomena in Low-dimensional systems, Physics methodologies.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

As a part of our continuing initiative towards building a knowledge pool, we at the DAV College, Jalandhar are organizing a National Conference on “Frontiers in Theoretical & Experimental Physics” on September 18-19, 2024. The Conference will act as a bridge for scholarly interactions among academicians and researchers of Theoretical and Experimental Physics. The Conference shall provide an opportunity to present and observe the latest research findings and discuss future challenges in physics research.

The aim of the conference is:
• To create a platform to bring together the theoretical and experimental physicists, researchers and students for exchanging the latest research advancements in various disciplines of physics such as Material Science, High Energy Physics, Non-linear dynamics, Bio-physics, Low- dimensional systems. This can faster the scientific networking and co-operation for advancement of science.
• To provide National forum to young students to present new ideas and innovative work at an early stage of their career. The conference can also spark new ideas in participating students by expert speakers from wide range of disciplines of Physics. The knowledge received through conference can broaden the student’s horizon to understand the theoretical and experimental aspects of Physics.
•To create opportunities for the next generation workforce to develop their professional skills.
