More than 120 final year students participated in the workshop. Joint Secretary of Student Council, Akanksha introduced the resource person to the students.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar welcomed Ruhani Kohli and praised the student council and said that through this workshop, students will learn new tricks of their soft skills, which will be very beneficial for them in future. The objective of organizing this workshop is to prepare the students for future interviews so that more and more students can get jobs. He further said that keeping in mind the future of the students, it is the responsibility of every college to provide better education to its students so that they can go into a successful job or business and it is also the responsibility of a college to provide quality education to their students. Moreover, it is also the responsibility of a college to prepare its students to go into successful job or business because apart from bookish knowledge, practical knowledge is also very important for the students.
The first session of the workshop was on CV writing, in this session Ruhani Kohli told the students that CV tells who you are and what you have achieved. They may be the only documents the employer looks at to evaluate your record before deciding to move forward on your application, or they may be used in online resources such as LinkedIn or professional networking profiles or cover letters. A resume that “stands different ” in a positive way is one that is thoughtfully, clearly and concisely written, effectively communicating your abilities and strengths in a very concise manner. Giving six basic tips to make the resume the best, Rohani Kohli said that students should create an excellent professional resume which should focus on education, experience, extra-curricular activities, their skills, resume format as well as its critical review.
Interviews and group discussions were discussed in the second session of the workshop. Rohani Kohli told that for interview and group discussion, students should have a strong hold on current affairs, reading articles in newspapers which will help in drawing logical conclusions, during the interview the student’s general understanding, confidence and his abilities are tested, therefore, every student should emphasize on enhancing his/her leadership abilities and be honest while answering questions related to his/her strong points and weak points. In the end, Rouhani gave five mantras to the students to be successful in which he said that students should always stay updated, have a clear vision, prepare a blueprint on the subject in advance, remain calm and optimistic in the interview and keep evaluating their weak points. In the end,
Dean of Student Council, Prof Manish Khanna said that Ruhani Kohli very efficiently gave information to the students about the art of resume writing, effective speaking, group discussion, etiquette and increasing self-confidence, which will prove to be very beneficial for their future. The students learned a lot of new things in this workshop and I hope that what the students learned in this workshop will give them so much confidence that they will prove themselves successful in any job interview.
At the end of the workshop the students got their doubts resolved in a question answer session with the resource person.
