the NSS Unit DAV College

The seven-day special camp organised from 23rd December to 29th December at Village Nandanpur by the NSS Unit DAV College, Jalandhar, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar, concluded successfully. The renowned comedian duo Gurpreet Singh and Prabhpreet Singh, alias Shugli-Jugli, formerly known as Santa Banta, graced the event as chief guests. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar warmly welcomed the chief guests and presented them with bouquets and shawls. In his speech, the principal commended the programme officers and volunteers for the strenuous work, awareness rallies, intellectual sessions and sports activities conducted during the camp. The principal encouraged Dr. Sahib Singh to form a volunteer team prepared to serve the community during emergencies. He also motivated the volunteers to be always ready to serve society.
Injecting humor and light-heartedness into the closing ceremony, the chief guests entertained the audience with jokes and satirical humor. The chief guests were greatly impressed by the volunteers’ sheer dedication towards society and raw talent. They announced that deserving talented volunteers of DAV College Jalandhar would be given opportunities in their Funjabi studio that would launch their career in the entertainment industry. In their speech they also imparted a strong message to the youth about their social responsibilities. They urged the youth to stay away from drugs.
The camp, focused on fostering community engagement, unfolded at Govt School Nandanpur, where enthusiastic volunteers dedicated themselves to removing weeds, shrubs, debris from the lawns and surrounding area as well as beautifying it. Beyond the school premises, activities throughout the week included an impactful awareness rally against social evils and the meticulous clearing of unwanted grass and debris in front of DAV College Jalandhar as well as LR hostel. The camp extended beyond physical service, incorporating cultural programmes, intellectual sessions and sports activities, showcasing a holistic approach to community improvement. Volunteers Dev Sethi gave a presentation highlighting the activities conducted during the seven-day camp.
Felicitation ceremonies highlighted outstanding efforts of volunteers, with Dev Sethi and Akansha Vig earning the titles of Best Camper Male and Female, respectively while fifteen other volunteers were given special awards in various categories. The other volunteers were presented with certificates and shields.
In his speech, Coordinator NSS, Dr. Sahib Singh, thanked the chief guests for accepting his invitation on such short notice. Dr. Sahib Singh expressed gratitude to the principal, college administration, Guest Speakers Dr Dinesh Arora, Principal SK Middha, Dr Varun Vasishta, Dr. Ashutosh, Mr Vikas Mongia, programme officers, other involved faculty members, PRO Dr Vinod Bishnoi, Superintendent Mr Arvind, non teaching staff and volunteers.He added that the NSS Unit will continue to organise such programmes in the future as well. Following that, volunteer Karan mesmerised the audience with his melodious voice.
The skillful compering of Programme Officer Dr. Gurjeet Kaur and Prof Gurjit Singh added finesse to the ceremony. A heartfelt vote of thanks by Programme Officer Prof. Vivek Sharma concluded the event. Prof. Ashok Kapoor, Prof. Gangan Madan, Prof. Sahil, Prof. Rahul and others attended the ceremony. The event left volunteers with fond memories, a spirit of unity, and a sense of service that defined the seven-day camp.
