Department of Biotechnology, DAV College, Jalandhar organised an educational trip to the CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), Chandigarh on 17th March 2023. IMTECH is one of the topmost institutes among the chain of 38 premier national laboratories of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, having a set-up which is a fore-runner in the niche domain of microbial biotechnology. Students visited different labs of the institute viz. Fermentation facility having Lab-to-pilot-scale fermentors, Microbial Type Culture Collection facility for maintenance, preservation and identification of Microorganisms, the collection holds over 20,000 cultures of bacteria and fungi, Modular Instrumentation Labs and Bioinformatics & Biocomputing. Students also got the first hand experience of 3-D printing and moreover, they also interacted with the scientists and research scholars of the institute that was indeed a motivating experience for them.
Students were accompanied by teaching and non Teaching staff of the department viz. Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dr. Jyotsna Sharma and Mr. Shashi respectively.
