“Book Bank Scheme”

Under “Book Bank Scheme”, the brilliant and economically weak students were benefited in DAV College, Jalandhar where college library distributed more than 1500 textbooks for the entire semester.
“Long queues of applicants, university toppers and students who scored more than 90% marks got the benefit of complete set of books.
“Book Bank Scheme” is a scheme run by DAV College Library, which is availed by meritorious and financially weak students every year. Under this scheme, students are given textbooks on the basis of their financial condition and their marks in examinations.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar said that we try our best to ensure that all the eligible students get the benefit of this scheme and the students can pursue their studies diligently without any financial problem.
Head of Lajpat Rai Library, Prof. Naveen Saini said that every year there is a lot of enthusiasm among the students regarding this scheme, this year also about 500 students had applied for books. The Library Committee consisting of Prof. Ashok Kapoor, Head of the Commerce Department, Dr. Suresh Khurana, Head of the Economics Department, Naveen Saini, Head of the Library, Dr. Komal Arora, Head of the Botony Department, Shweta, Librarian, conducted personal interviews with the students and on the basis of pre-determined rules and criteria, distributed textbooks to students.
Librarian Shweta said, these books are issued to the students through their accounts and these books remain with the students till the examinations and after the examinations the students return the books to the library. Arun Parashar, Narinder Khullar, Ram Chandra and Surinder Kaur from the Library Department were also involved in this process.
