Prof. Punit Puri, Head of Department Zoology, DAV College Jalandhar received his first patent registration from Government of India.
Equally complementing the accolades drawn by the students of DAV College Jalandhar in the fields of Academics, Sports and Cultural activities, the faculty members are also setting new landmarks every day. Bearing a testimony to this, Prof Punit Puri Head of Department Zoology has achieved a milestone in the field of quality research and its implementation by registering his recently developed Design for COPD Device for detection of lung disease under Copyright and Patent Act by Copyright Office, Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM), Mumbai. The Office of CGPDTM is a sub-ordinate office under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar honoured and congratulated Prof. Punit Puri for his glorious achievement thus bringing a credit to the name of the institute. Principal Dr.Rajesh Kumar remarked that Prof. Punit Puri is a competent teacher as well as a progressive learner and researcher. He informed that this is a novel achievement for the college and motivated all the faculty members to get their research works patented and copyrighted. Dr.Rajesh Kumar expressed his confidence that Prof. Punit Puri will continue with his research work and be a source of inspiration for other researchers. Giving information about his research and patented device design, Prof Punit Puri said that his designed device will be of utmost use in medical labs as it will help in detection of Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease, Emphysema, TB, common lung infections and pneumonia with in very short time span and with highest accuracy and sentivity. It aims to improve the efficiency of the existing automatic tools for lung Disease detection and corelation. The design of the device is such as it covers all the parameters of lung Physiology which include even the exact volumes and vital capacity checking to type of viral, bacterial or fungal infection. Dr. Ashu Bahl Dean, Research and Development was also present on the occasion and congratulated Prof. Puri for his glorious achievement.
