Department of Chemistry Pays Tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan on Teachers’ Day.
In a heartfelt tribute to the renowned philosopher and teacher, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the Department of Chemistry, DAV College Jalandhar under the aegis of S. S. Bhatnagar Chemical Society celebrated his birth anniversary on Teachers Day (5th Sept 2023). Dr. Radhakrishnan, whose birthday is observed as Teachers Day in India, was not only a prominent philosopher but also the second President of India. His dedication to education and his profound insights into the field of philosophy have left an indelible mark on the world. The program began with an inaugural address by worthy Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar. He spoke about the significance of the day and the importance of teachers in shaping the future of the nation and stressed the need to carry forward Dr. Radhakrishnan’s vision of education. Thereafter, students presented a handmade card as a token of gratitude to the honorable Principal Sir. The highlight of the celebration was the screening of a documentary on the life and legacy of Dr. Radhakrishnan. The documentary showcased the life and teachings of Dr. Radhakrishnan, emphasizing his pivotal role in shaping modern education and philosophy. The film delved into the inspiring journey of Dr. Radhakrishnan, from his humble beginnings to becoming the second President of India. It also explored his profound insights into education and the indelible mark he left on the world with his philosophical writings. The screening was met with applause and deep reflection, serving as a reminder of the importance of great teachers in our lives. Additionally, students from various grades expressed their gratitude to teachers by making handmade greeting cards and through the power of poetry and music. The celebration of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birth anniversary on Teachers Day served as a touching tribute to the teaching community. It underscored the importance of honoring educators and their unwavering dedication to nurturing the future generation. Prof. Sheetal Aggarwal, Head, Department of Chemistry emphasized about the role of teachers in students’ academic, personal, and social development. She thanked Principal, Vice-Principal Prof. Archana Oberoi, Prof Sonika, Dr. Komal Arora, Prof. Tnu Mahajan, Dr. Savneet Kaur, Dr. Pooja and other faculty members for their presence.
