IIC of DAV College, Jalandhar along with student welfare council took an initiative to fetch the vibrant communities of visionaries and entrepreneurs together by organizing an Inter-Institutional Iddeathon-2023, Business Startup Competition, which brings together the budding entrepreneurs to to get valuable feedback on their businesses.
The competition was organized on 28th August, 2023 in Chemistry Seminar hall, DAV College, Jalandhar. A total of 60 students participated in the event. The event was organized with the objective to vitalize student entrepreneurs and support the growth of jobs. In order to strive for the business competition prizes, there must be a serious intent to launch the proposed business. The event was committed to foster and support the entrepreneurial essence and skills of students and young minds. Mr. Ashutosh, MD of Rajhans International graced the occasion as chief guest of the event.
The event started with DAV Gaan. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Startup Coordinator Prof. Manish Khanna and other IIC members accorded a floral welcome to the guests. In his inaugural speech, Dr. Rajesh Kumar introduced the IIC functioning to the participating students and encouraged them be entrepreneurs of tomorrow. He also emphasised on studying the traditional knowledge recorded in our ancient Vedas and apply that with modern wisdom to achieve the goals.
In Ideathon 2023, the entries were invited from different schools. A total 18 teams from various schools were shortlisted. There were two rounds. Round one was eliminating round, conducted in two parallel sessions comprising of 9 teams each and judges (two in each session) were there to judge the presentation based on innovation, justification of idea, content, confidence and query handling etc. The event started with the description and rules & regulations about the event. Students were given 8-10 minutes time to present their startup plans after which questions were put up to them by the judges as well as the students.

The prudent decision taken by the panel of judges allowed 11 teams to move in the second round, which was the final round. In this round were 3 finalists.

First: Mehar Vrishti, Namya Arora, Kritika Sharma (Cambridge Innovative School)
Second: Gurnayam Kaur, Gaurika, Anmoldeep, Navleen (Innocent Hearts School, Nurpur)
Third: Mehtab Kaur, Smridhi Sharma (Delhi Public School)
The winner team presented the statup idea of carpool app – Earthwise. The first runner up team presented Milkalcholic – a startp for preparing milk suppliments, whereas the second runner up team presented Sip-Sattu – an energy drink made of traditional foods – Sattu, milk and Jaggery.
Dr. Sanjeev Dhawan announced the winners and encouraged the students to work hard and smart. In the end, IIC Convenor Dr. Rajeev Puri expressed his gratitude to Startup coordinator Prof. Manish Khanna and his team for leaving no stone unturned in making all the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event. He also congratulated the winning teams and guided them to register their startup ideas on Yukti Innovation Portal.
