World Water Day was celebrated by the PG Department of Chemistry, DAV College, Jalandhar under the aegis of S.S. Bhatnagar Chemical Society. The theme for World water day 2023 was ‘Accelerating change’. World Water Day 2023 is about accelerating change to solve the water and sanitation crisis. Dysfunction throughout the water cycle undermines progress on all major global issues, from health to hunger, gender equality to jobs, education to industry, and disasters to peace.
During the celebration of the day, a quiz competition and poster presentation competition was organized by the Chemistry Department. The event started with the poster presentation from graduate and postgraduate students. The students prepared their posters on very unique and vivid topics under the supervision of Dr. Pooja. A quiz competition was also organized to make students aware about the chemistry of water where Dr. Savneet Kaur was the Quiz Mistress with a total of five participating teams. The students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm in both the activities. Dr Isha and Dr Shilpa were the judges for poster presentation.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar in his valedictory address stressed on the importance of water in our daily life and gave certificates to the winners. He inspired the students to reduce the consumption of water by taking individual initiatives. Prof. Sheetal Aggarwal (HOD, Chemistry) appreciated students for their participation and guided them to use water judiciously so as to cope up the gradually depleting water table. She also congratulated event organizers for their commendable efforts. Dr Manpreet, Dr. Aman and Prof. Tnu (incharge SS Bhatnagar chemical society) were also present during the event.
