An industrial and educational tour to Satyam Agro Company, Jalandhar and ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute, Jalandhar was organised for the students by the department of Food science and technology, DAV College, Jalandhar under the guidance of worthy Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar.
The students were accompanied by prof. Anu Gupta and Prof. Swati Singla. At Satyam Agro, students have seen the process of parboiling and milling of paddy. They were given information regarding steamers, dryers, husker and polishers used during rice milling. Students also visited quality control lab. At ICAR unit, an interactive and inspirational session was held for students by the faculty of the institute. Students got the information on the preparation of various gluten free products based on potatoes like cookies, snacks, potato jalebi and gulabjamun. The preparation of potato seeds with Aeroponics technique was also witnessed by the students.
