D.A.V. College, Jalandhar organised Alumni meet 2023 with Vigor and enthusiasm.
The meet began with the lighting of lamp by the chief guest, Sh. Ram. K. Gupta, Sh. Avinash Rai Khanna – Politician, Former Principal Sh. M. L. Aeri and Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal of the college.
After the recitation of the welcome song, Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar extended a formal welcome in honour of all the guests and distinguished Alumni of the college for coming and gracing the event. He told about the significant past of the college, which has entered in its 105th year of service in the field of higher education, extra curricular and sports and its achievements in different fields. He emphasised that all this had been possible because of the illustrious Alumni of this great seat of learning. He said that in future too the college would excel in the implementation of the new education policy, credit-based system, paperless work and other such areas.
Chief guest Sh. Gupta, also a former member of DAVCMC, New Delhi shared his reminisces of the time spent in the college particularly of the year 1961 when he completed his M.A. and also taught in 1963 in the college. He said that his teacher Prof. Bhatia gave shape to his life and he remains thankful always to the college for that contribution in his life. Sh.Avinash Rai Khanna shared his remembrances and experiences of the days spent in the college and hostel. He gave all the credit to his almamater for whatever he has achieved in his life as a politician.
Former Principal Sh. M. L. Aeri shared about the rich traditions and legacy of DAV College Jalandhar and that the students of the college are serving the society at national and international levels.
The distinguished Alumni who also shared their college time experiences included Sh. K.D. Bhandari, Principal J. C. Joshi, Dr. Satish Kapoor, IPS S. Inderbir Singh, CA Manoj soni, CA Rajiv Makal, Sh. J.P. Midha, Ambassador Ramesh Chander, Dr. Yash Sharma, Dr. Mukesh Joshi, Dr. Vijay, Dr. Anil Vasudeva, Sh. S.K. Kalia and CA R.S. Kalra.
The students of EMA department presented cultural program during which the college bhangra team performed Bhangra and mesmerized the audience. The guests also visited the gallery of ‘Hall of Fame’ situated in the heritage red building of the college.
Teaching, non-teaching staff members and students were also present on the occasion. Prof. Sharad Manocha, Department of English and Prof. Kirandeep Kaur, Deptt. of Punjabi conducted the stage in a very well organised manner.
At last Prof. Isha Sehgal, Dean Alumni presented the formal vote of thanks.
