With the objective of tackling the rising challenges posed by electronic waste, the PG Department of Computer Science organized the E-WASTE Contest “JUNK WAR” on February 17, 2023, in the department to propose innovative solutions for collection, disposal, and recycling of e-waste. Students participated in the competition to mark the event with full fervor and zeal. During the competition, their euphoria was completely out of bounds, and they showcased their knowledge by incorporating recycled e-waste into their designs and answering myriads of questions related to their design.
The contest was judged by Prof. Vishal Sharma and Dr. Rajeev Puri, Computer Science Department and Prof. Isha Sehgal from the Department of Commerce. The judges marveled at the creativity of the students and blessed them. Dr. Nischay Bahl, Head of the Department of Computer Science, said that he was proud of the skill, intelligence, and hard work of the young students. He said that recycling is not just for paper and pop cans; technology can be recycled too. In this contest, Rohit Bhalla and Akshit bagged the first prize, Kashish and Manroop Kaur secured second position, and Kritika and Isha got the third prize. Prof. Ritika Sobti, event manager and President, IT Forum 2022-23 was full of praise for the students and expressed the view that โ€œwaste is not a waste until we waste it, and E-WASTE is a potential threat to the environment if not handled properlyโ€.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar, principal, congratulated the winners and motivated the students to participate in similar extracurricular activities for their overall grooming and enhancement in the domain of technical skills.
The function was made glorious by the gracious presence of faculty members, non-teaching staff members of the Computer Science department, and students who participated in this event. The day came to an end with glistening smiles sparkling on the faces of every participant at the college and renewing their enthusiasm.
