“Gift of education is the greatest gift”-Book Donation Week

Book donation week for the assistance of underprivileged students organised at DAV College concluded successfully on World Book Donation Day with a cake cutting ceremony, More than 700 books were donated.
By donating books, you give others the opportunity to find the one book that will change their lives. Sharing our books with others is the simplest yet the best method to encourage literacy.

“Donate a book, Earn a Smile” campaign is started with an objective to provide quality education for the students belonging to underprivileged communities. This initiative of the college will facilitate the education of students whose parents are willing to ensure a brighter future for their children but are bound by limited resources.

Books and literacy are necessary for the development. Books are the best and true friends of mankind that motivates us in the times of adversity. They evoke emotions as well as contributes to intelligence. With an aim to encourage literacy and innovation among students, the student advisory and welfare council held a book donation camp since 6 February in association with the College Library. The camp concluded on 14th February, World Book donation day with the noble objective to provide free of cost curriculum books to the needy students.
Principal Dr.Rajesh Kumar congratulated the team for success of the camp and said, ” one pen, one book, one teacher and one child can change the world.” He emphasised on the importance of books and said that this initiative intends to empower the next generation through education and knowledge. It is one of the many initiatives of the college that focus to eliminate the inequalities in education by helping the students who have limited resources at their disposal.
“We are dedicated to provide quality education to our students”, Principal said while appreciating the hard work and diligence of the students.
Prof. Manish Khanna Dean student welfare said,”Many students around us are deprived of formal education and knowledge because they do not have enough financial resources to buy new books, but education is everyone’s right. The student council in association with College library started this initiative with the objective ‘donate a book earn a smile’ to provide new books to the students. The book donation drive received magnanimous contribution from various industrialists and businessmen, social workers, teachers and alumni of the college for buying new books. These books will be given to students free of cost via college library.
Prof. Manish Khanna expressed gratitude to all the contributors of the donation camp and wholeheartedly appreciated the Hard work and sincere efforts of the student members of the council. On this occasion Deputy Dean, DSW Prof. Komal Soni, Head librarian, Prof. Naveen Saini, Coordinator NIRF, Dr Sanjeev Dhawan, HOD JMC Dept. Prof.Minakshi Mohan, Dr Naveen Sood, Prof. Isha Sehgal and Dr Ekjot Kaur, Prof. Hina Arora, Prof. Shweta , Prof. Sahib Singh, Prof. Varun and Prof. Rajwinder were also present.
