Workshop for job seekers on RESUME MAKING TIPS

The Training and placement cell and PG Department of Computer Science organized skill development workshop for job seekers on “RESUME MAKING TIPS” on November 18, 2022 in the Seminar Hall, computer science department. More than 100 students registered for this event. The Principal, Dr. Rajesh Kumar was the chief-guest of the workshop. The Head of department and Dean, Training and placement cell, Dr. Nischay Bahl along with staff members of computer science department gave floral welcome to the Principal.

The objective of this workshop is to guide students about how to design a top-quality resume as it is a key for getting a top-quality job. The pandemic has changed lives in many ways, but submitting a resume remains the best way to land the position you want. Employers use resumes throughout the hiring process to learn more about applicants and whether they might be a good fit. The purpose of the workshop is basically to train students for tomorrow.

Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar addressed the students and shared his valuable view about the significance of resume building with all. He blessed all the students and wished them to achieve greater heights in their lives. He appreciated the efforts of Training and placement cell and computer science department for organizing the event. The speaker of the day, Dr. Nischay Bahl explained about the strategies and tricks that will help them in future to get easily hired. He was widely credited for taking an initiative towards student career-making by providing job-winning resume writing tips. He appealed to the students to make their resumes such that they would be easy to read—to summarize their accomplishments and skills and highlight relevant experience. Moreover, he geared the focus of participants towards the statistical figures, such that he mentioned that an average job opening receives 250 resumes, and up to 88% of them are considered unqualified. He also suggested the solution for the volume problem is using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS). Moreover, some sample resumes were also shown and discussed.

Prof. Ritika Sobti, President, IT FORUM 2022-23 expressed a vote of thanks to the principal and the computer science department. The event was made glorious by the gracious presence of Faculty members of Computer Science Prof. Monika Chopra, Prof. Vishal Sharma, Dr. Kawaljeet, Prof. Leekha Jindal, Dr Rajeev Puri, Prof. Ritika Sobti, Prof. Namarta Kapoor, Prof. Gagan Madaan, Prof. Tanu, Prof. Gaurav Kapoor, Prof. Anisha, Prof. Neha Malhotra, Prof. Richa, Prof. Aarti, Prof, Paramjit, Prof. Harshita, Prof. Anamika, Prof. Shalini attended this event along with non teaching faculty members and students who participated in this event.

The day came to an end with glistening smiles sparkling on the faces of participants and renewed enthusiasm.
