Webinar: Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery in Cloud
Post Graduate Department of Computer Science under the aegis of IT Forum of the college is organized a Webinar on “Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery in Cloud" on Saturday May 8, 2021. The speaker of the Session was Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Principal Group Software Engineering Manager, Microsoft India Private limited. In this testing and monotonous time of Covid, the department took a leap to organize a talk from an eminent personality and top technocrat of one of the most valued IT companies of the world. The speaker had also been an alumnus of the college. He studied in the college for 2 years (1994-96). The session was held on Zoom Meetings Platform.
The organizing Secretary of the webinar, Pf. Vishal Sharma, President IT Forum of the college apprised the speaker to the audience. He thanked Dr Punam Suri (Padma Shri) President, DAVCMC, New Delhi, Sh. Shiv Raman Gaur Director, Higher Education DAVCMC, New Delhi, and Principal, Dr. S.K. Arora for lending their patronage to the event and Dr Nischay Bahl, Head Dept. of Computer Science and faculty members for extending their support in organizing the talk. Principal Dr. S. K. Arora welcomed the speaker and thanked him for agreeing upon delivering a talk to the students which will go a long way in shaping their lives and career. Dr. Nischay Bahl then listed the impressive achievements of the speaker Mr Mukesh Kumar in his two decades long glorious IT career and invited him formally to start the session.
The speaker of the day Mr. Mukesh Kumar started the talk on a nostalgic note by thanking the organizing team and the management for giving him the opportunity to deliver an expert talk for the students and faculty of his own alma mater. He divided hi talk into 3 parts:
1. Journey: His Journey from DAV College Jalandhar to Microsoft.
2. Project and Technology: The Project he is currently working on.
3. Learning and Success: Never ending learning, focused goal, respect to teachers and mentors, hardships, sacrifices, failures, and re-tries that ultimately leads to success.
The talk drew an overwhelming response with participation of students which touched the limit of Zoom meetings of 100 and the rest waiting to enter the talk. The session ended with an interaction between the speaker and participants with students asking about the industry requirements and latest technologies in demand. Prof Vishal Sharma thanked the speaker for an enlightening session that would benefit the students who aspire to make a career in the ever growing and ever demanding global IT industry. He said that the talk will surely pave a way for an entry of the students into the leading IT companies of the world and their subsequent successful careers.
