Under the aegis of Ancient Culture Society, History Department organized One Day Educational Tour for the students (MA History & BA Final) to Amritsar on March 9, 2019.The students visited Partition Museum, Town Hall, where through Audio Visual Aids, Photographs, Models and old Newspaper cuttings (national and international), they learned chronologically about the Indian freedom struggle, which ended with the pangs of Partition of India in 1947. Thereafter, students visited Historical Jallianwala Bagh, where hundreds of unarmed innocent people of Amritsar were killed by General Dyer a Century ago on April 13, 1919. After that students paid obeisance at Golden Temple and in the evening their last visit was at 1971 War Memorial (international Wagah Border) and Pul Moran a historical place belonged to Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Court’s famous dancer Moran. At This place Maharaja Ranjit Singh had constructed a Pul (bridge) for Moran and that is why this place is known as Pul Moran. The tour was very useful for the students because they personally visited the places of historical importance related to Freedom Struggle and Punjab History, which is part of their Syllabus. Assistant Professor Raj Kumar (Prof -In charge Ancient Culture Society) and Assistant Professor Neetu Sharma accompanied the students on tour.
