The department of Physics, DAV College Jalandhar is organising 7 day National Workshop from Sept. 29, 2016 to Oct. 5, 2016 on the topic “Transport Phenomenon in Low Dimensional Systems and First Principle Simulation of Condensed Matter Systems”. In this workshop, many topics related to low dimensional systems at nano level e.g. Zero dimensional, one dimensional and two dimensional will be discussed. The computer operating system LINUX and SIESTA programmes used to compute electronic structures will be explained and used. The participants will be taught and trained in computer laboratory to use the programme GDIS for modelling periodic systems like molecules.
During inaugural session, Chief Guest, Prof. Ravi Kumar, Head, Department of Material Science at N.I.T. Hamirpur elaborated on the contribution of Indian Science to nanoscience. In his key-note address, he elaborated on superconductivity, ferrites, nanostructures.
Principal Dr. B. B. Sharma exhorted the participants to concentrate on research and contribute to the development of the country.
Prof. T. D. Saini, Head, Department of Physics, welcomed the chief guest, resource persons and participants.
Prof.(Ms.) Sharanjit Sandhu, organising secretary of the conference conducted the stage and introduced the resource persons to the participants
