Students of DAV College witnessed an edifying Book Fair on 18-19 march at DAV College premises inaugurated by our venerated guest Dr. A.K. Paul, Vice Chancellor, DAV University, Dr. Shirish Chindre, Principal Dr. B.B. Sharma and College Librarian Naveen Saini. This Book Fair marked the plethora of books related to competitive examinations such as UGC-NET, Civil services, Probationary Officers exams. Apart from this, books by motivational personas also attracted substantial count of students.
Dr. B.B Sharma quoted, Book Fair is like a treasure chest where from a student to a teacher, everyone can satiate their literary cravings in both English as well as vernacular medium. The child of today is keener and sees what can be used as supplementary reading to zoology; chemistry; computers and allied subjects. The competition at college level is so stiff that students are hard put to get past their immediate curriculum.
Dr. A.K. Paul annotated, Among the salient features of the Fair is that one of compact gap of knowledge is easily covered by book reading with ease. This manifests that the students here seem mainly interested and enlightened to look beyond the immediate school curriculum enhancement. Another factor that is very much evident at this Book Fair is the vastly improved quality of books.
Dr. Satish Chindre voiced, The Fair is a reasonable indication of what students are reading these days. It is also a fair reflection on what is available for students now-a-days. I remember as a student when we visited a Book Fair we always made a beeline for the motivational shelves. But now with dynamics, students crave for their career oriented discipline.
College Librarian Naveen Saini said that the main motive behind pioneering this book fair was to inculcate reading competence in students and induce the reader inside them to look outside the monotony of syllabi books. The students gave very literary vibes and fetched some great reads.
All this assemblage was pioneered under the pilotage of college Principal Dr B B Sharma and College Librarian Naveen Saini.
