Food Science and Technology Department of DAV College Jalandhar organised an industrial trip to the Jagjit Industries Limited
Jagatjit Industries Limited, one of the largest IMFL players in the country was set up in the year 1944, in the east while State of Kapurthala. And deals in manufacture, distribution and sale of IMFL.
Students visited Malt Extract plant. Officials explained the process of malt extraction, they said malt extract is produced from combination of maltedbarley and unmalted barley. It also manufactures and markets alcoholic beverages, malt, malt extract, malted milk foods, milk powder, ghee and glass. Malt Extract plant is equipped with modern Steinecker design Brew.
Officials of JILA exclaimed that Sophisticated and control technology ensure optimum conditions during each production stage and process is centrally controlled through the Process Control Room.
Then students visited research and development division. JIL R & D Division has an integrated multiprojects approach covering the Chemical, Biochemical, Microbiological and Food Technology related research areas of interest to the company apart from maintaining stringent and consistent quality of existing products of the company as also process improvement for newer product development and cost reduction by improving yields of production units.
The R & D unit has the pilot plant facililty such as Single Effect Evaporator, Vacuum Ovens, Aerobic Fermentator, Mixing and Dehydration Reactors, Colloidmill etc. The JIL R & D have developed newer product in the malted Milk Food and Alcoholic beverages to company’s range of products.
The students were really excited for the industrial visit and they took part in the process exhibitions and interacted with the officials and asked them various questions and further presented their views and revealed contenment on getting a chance to inculcate the facts about practical knowledge and said for the accomplishment of certain project rigorous effort and excellent teamwork and collaboration is strictly required.
