One day National seminar on treatment of Violence in English literature

Post Graduate department of English, DAV College Jalandhar in association with Pragati educational council organised one day National seminar on treatment of Violence in English literature.

The principal Dr B B Sharma formally inaugurated the seminar and welcomed the delegates. Dr N K Neb President English Seminar Society introduced the theme of the seminar. He delineated on various representations of violence as shown in literature.

Prof Sharad Manocha associate professor, DAV college Jalandhar hosted the function.

The seminar was chaired by eminent academicians . The first session was chaired by Prof Seema Jain , head of department of English in KMV college , Dr Adarsh Khanna head of department of English HMV college chaired the second session and the third session was chaired by DR Sunit Kaur head of English department, APJ college jalandhar.

Delegates of various colleges and universities talked about the varied representations of violence in English literature , Indian literature in English and Indian literature in translation.

Dr B K sharrma from BUC college, Batala, Dr Bindu Sharma from DAV college, Jagraon, Dr Vinod Chopra from Hamirpur , Ms Shubhlata from Punjab university , Chandigarh , Ms Ranbir from Jammu university , jammu and other delegates presented their research papers on treatment of violence and its various manifestations in literature . They discussed how literature becomes a potent medium to present various hues and shades of violence which makes humans victims as well as victimisers .

The delegates focused on various aspects of violence like communal violence, domestic violence , ideological and symbolic violence , ethnic violence , racial violence and post colonial violence .

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof Archana Oberoi , associate professor .

The faculty members from Post Graduate Department of English Prof SK Uppal, Prof Renu Gupta , Prof Sonika , Prof Anju , Prof Naresh , Prof Nitika , Prof Suruchi , Prof Ankit were also present to grace the occasion.
