“When the martyrs are being paid last rites, don’t shed tears,but don’t forget the them on the day India attains freedom” this song made everyone sitting in the auditorium emotional on the occasion of celebration of 69th independence Jashn-e -Azadi.
The commerce Forum of DAV College organised an event a thrilling event to celebrate the Independence Day , and the event was a great success.
The auditorium echoed with the patriotic songs, and colors of patriotism were flying high in the spirits of everyone present.
Principal Dr B B Sharma , Officiating HOD Prof V K Sareen, Dr Sanjeev Sharma and PRO Prof Manish Khanna gave a beautiful floral welcome to the chief guest Mr Som Prakash (Chief Parliamentary Secretary Department of local bodies Punjab) . Special guests on the day Mrs and Mr Ravi Dada (Parents of Shaheed Major Raman Dada who died a soldiers death in the kargil war) , and Mrs Aarti Kapoor (director JMP group) were also presented with a floral welcome.
An oath taking ceremony was incorporated for the 1st year students as a matter of continuing an old tradition for the fresher’s.
Bhangra and giddha were too awesome and sensational
Mrs Ravi Dada (mother of major Raman Dada recited a patriotic poem on the stage and made all the people emotional and she sang “Jai Hind ” in the end.
The entire auditorium was decorated as a Bride and tricolors were seen flowing everywhere. The event started with the Lamp lighting ceremony.
The students sang beautiful patriotic songs “Vande Matram” life given for the country is worth giving” and presented a choreography and raised the spirits of everyone.
Paying tributes to the martyrs and honouring the parents of the great people Madhur quoted ” I salute to the such mothers who produced such heroes who not only made their mothers proud but also made Mother India a proud mother”
Auditorium sang to the beats of “mera desh hovee punjab” by Mehakdeep .
The melody band was the biggest attraction for everyone. Gagan Amog, Rajat, Parul, Some, Manik,Mehakdeep all sang “maa tujhe salam”, ” aisa desh hai mera” , “dil diya hai jaan bhi denge”, ” vande mataram” and thrilled everyone.
Dance presented by kritika on “desh rangila” influenced everyone.
Jasdeep, roopinder , harpreet, kamalpreet presented a vivid description of the rich traditions and the culture of our India .
The choreography group named “all is well” presented the ills prevailing in the society like eve teasing , ragging , drug addiction and won all hearts.
Contemporary dance style and break dance by Kashish and Piyush was the ultimate eye catcher.
Principal Dr B B Sharma addressed everyone on the event congratulating them on the independence day and quoted “India has the richest culture and the largest democracy in the world possessing rich heritage . The people have the ability to make their country reach at heights and we should all join hands to make India a nation of superpower following all the moral norms and ethics.
Prof V K Sareen (officiating HOD Commerce) quoted ” though it has been 68 years since we have gained independence but today we are under the bondages of certain ills prevailing in our society”. We will become truly free when we will be able to beat illiteracy , poverty , unemployment , obsolete traditions , corruption and many more ills . we will be truly independent when we attain the freedom to speak the truth !! .
Dr Sanjeev Sharma (president commerce forum) quoted “we should pledge to grow ahead and leave behind all the irrational approaches of inequalities of caste creed and religion , and we should rise above all this and work dedicatedly for the development of our nation . We should forget all the indifferences and difficulties and join hands to integrate and coordinate the people and our country.
Principal Dr B B Sharma presented a token of gratitude and honour to the chief guest Mr Som Prakash , and parents of the great martyr and an ex student of Dav (Major Raman Dada) were also honoured with the due respect . Mrs Aarti Kapoor was also presented a token of honour and respect by proving shawls and momentoes . Members of commerce forum Gagan, madhur , Shreya , harleen hosted the event
Prof Arun Mehra, prof Ashok Kapoor, Prof Manish Arora, Prof Rajeev puri ,Dr satish ahuja, Prof Manav aggarwal, Dr Ashwani, Prof Naveen Saini, Prof Naveen sood and others were also present at the event.
