DAV College has completed its 97 years and its 98th year is in progress. This Blosson was started by DAV Management in 1918. Since then, growth has taken place brick by brick & today it stands on the edge of all other prestigious institutions.
Dav College Jalandhar has not just proved itself in academics, but even in sports and extra mural activities.

However in extra mural activities, the list of alumni is more lustrous and sonorous. The Nobel laureate world class renowned Ghazal Maestro Jagjit Singh, noted Bollywood singer Sukhwinder Singh, famous Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans, Bollywood Singer Diljaan & now the latest inductee in bollywood industry, Deepanshu pandit (Chhil Gye Naina).
Coming up to sports, Dav has brought great laurels. We can say that except Rajeev Gandhi khel rattan award, Dav jalandhar has won almost all sports awards of India . 18 Olympians, 8 Arjuna Awardee, 2 Dronacharya Awardees and thousands of other distinguished Indians are the proud products of this institution.
Most unforgettable part of Dav is the time of India – Pakistan partition. During time of partition, institute conserved the education. The refugees stayed in college in the house where I live. The staff quarters were accompanied by refugees. Revenue department was in the college hostel .Dav college helped out in providing educational stability to northern India.
Talking about founder of college, our very 1st principal Pt. Mehar Chand ji, was very dedicated towards college and even during time of construction, he selected the bricks one by one which were to be used for heritage building.
Principal Lala Suraj Bhan ji, whom children still love and adore, was Vice Chancellor of kurukshetra university and Punjab university and finally became president of DAV Management committee.
After that when we talk about Mr. Behl, he was the principal for longest tenure ie 15 years. He was well known for his discipline. He had immense love for students who maintained academic standard of college; students excelling in sports, academic and extra mural activities .
Under the leadership of dynamic principal Dr Satish Sharma, college reached new heights of success. He started the co education system in under graduate courses, through which there was a hike in the number of admissions.
DAV College Jalandhar, the premier educational institution of the country is re-accredited with ‘A’ grade (3.76 CGPA in 4 point scale, highest for any Co-Educational College in India) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Dav jalandhar can be said as biggest largest and top institution in co education.
We have almost entered in 98th year of its celebration and what i expect from students is to give laurels to institution .I have got tremendous amount of love and affection from my students and staff. And it is due to their love and support that the college has got the top ranking in NAAC and I would dedicate it to all my staff and students and committee.
During this centennially celebrations we proposed to firstly have vedic aryasamellan and introduction of new courses and begin outsource . We love to have autonomous status of college. Principal Sharma said “during this phase, first of all vedic arya sammelan would b put up to the priority list, new syllabus and outsourcing would be started. College would start a page in college’s website to connect to the old Davians and support them financially. College hopes that through this, Many old students would again connect to the college. On this occasion, with the help of ex students, new scholarships and facilities In the college are to be included. High tech research labs, researches and giving training to teachers would all be started very soon.
