Extension lecture on the topic “Achievements of Indian Science”

An extension lecture on the topic “Achievements of Indian Science : Challenging Career Opportunities for Science Graduates” was organized today by Department of Physics, DAV College Jalandhar.

Prof. Atul Khanna, of Department of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev University, the main speaker, elaborated on the development of Indian Science, particularly Nuclear Science and Space Science. He explained to the students how the projects of Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan were planned and executed. He also told about the growth of Indian nuclear establishments under the guidance of Homi J. Bhabha and the contribution of Nuclear Science for producing Nuclear Energy.

He also explained to the students about the availability of career opportunities in various organizations like Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) etc.

Principal Dr. B. B. Sharma exhorted the students to opt for research careers and contribute to the development of science and the country. Prof. T. D. Saini, Head of the Department, welcomed the speaker. Dr. Satish Kumar, Incharge, Physics Association, introduced the speaker to the students.

The following teachers of the department were also present. Dr. Hemant Kumar, Prof. Atul Bhalla, Prof. Sharanjeet Sandhu, Dr. Navjeet Sharma, Prof. Ruchi Guleria, Prof. Kapil Jairath, Prof. Sunil Thakur, Prof. Harpreet Singh.
