Cricket tournament Report

 

IDM Commerce Cricket League Season 3(Cricket Tournament) was organized by commerce forum in Oct vacations from 2^nd Oct to 7^th Oct in college playgrounds for Commerce students of both graduation and post graduation.

This tournament was sponsored by IDM SPORTS. The inauguration ceremony was organized on September 29.

The matches were played between 8 teams namely

·       ROYALS

·       MUSKETEERS

·       JAGUARS

·       HURRICANES

The event was managed by Prof Manav Aggarwal and coordinated by Prof Rajeev Sharma. The teams were managed by their respective team leaders namely Prof.  V.K Sareen, Prof.  Rajeev Puri, Prof. Ashok Kapoor, Prof. Manish Khanna, Prof. Manish Arora, Prof Ram Kumar, Prof Amit Jain, Prof  Sandeep Marwaha

The matches were conducted at three levels:

The IDM COMMERCE CRICKET LEAGUE was won by RANGERS.

FINAL CEREMONY

Final ceremony of cricket tournament was organized on 17^th October and honourable SHRI B.R MAHAJAN (C.E.O) and SHRI VISHAL MAHAJAN (M.D), sponsors of IDM COMMERCE CRICKET LEAGUE SEASON3 along with PRINCIPAL Dr.SATISH K SHARMA and PROF. C.B.GAUR and other respected members of faculty.

IDM CUP was given to the winning, RANGERS team along with gold medals to the each member of the team. Silver medals were given to the runners up team members, BRAVOS.

Sponsors of the tournament were honoured with the memento by worthy principal Dr SATISH K SHARMA and vice Principal PROF. C.B.GAUR.

Badminton tournament report

Commerce badminton tournament for girls was organized by commerce forum for the first time. The tournament was organized in the October vacations for two days i.e. 3^rd and 4^th October. The event was managed by PROF. NIDHI AGGARWAL.

The tournament was inaugurated on 3^rd October and the chief guest was PROF. VIJAY GUPTA.

On 4^th of October, prof V.K.Sareen was chief guest.

DAV College under the aegis of Department of Extra-Mural Activities organized the 10^th National Youth Parliament. It was sponsored by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India under the Scheme of National Youth Parliament Competition in Universities/Colleges throughout the country. The aim is to strengthen the roots of democracy, inculcate healthy habits of discipline, tolerance of the views of others and to enable the student community to understand the working of our Parliamentary institutions. The co-ordinator of the programme Dr. Dinesh Arora, said that this was the second stage competition. DAV College qualified for this stage on the basis of its performance of youth parliament organized last year. He further said that only 5 colleges/universities qualified for this 2^nd stage competition and DAV College is one of them. Out of these five one institution will emerge as the national winner.

In this event 70 students participated and they successfully tried to create the look of real Parliament. The seating arrangement was made as per the provisions of the Parliament. On the right side of Speaker the ruling party, with PM on the extreme right and on the left side the opposition party with Deputy Speaker on the extreme left followed by Leader of Opposition. The role of Speaker, Deputy Speaker, PM, Leader of Opposition, Secretary General etc was played by the students very successfully. The members of 10^th National Youth Parliament wore the dresses of different states and presented a real look of National Parliament. The items like ‘Oath by New Members’, ‘Introduction to New Ministers by PM’, ‘Breach of Privilege’, ‘Question Hour’, ‘Papers to be Laid’, ‘zero Hour’, ‘Vote of No Confidence’ etc were presented in this Youth Parliament.

Important Issues:

The issues of Price Rise, Corruption & Black Money, Indian Money in Foreign Banks, Energy Crisis, remained the hot issues of debate and discussion in the House.

During Zero Hour, Pushmeet Singh raised the issue of Holy city Amritsar and demanded Heritage status as well as category C status for its development. He made an emotional and sentimental appeal to the government in this regard.

Vote of No-Confidence:

Ms Amanpreet Kaur, Leader  of Opposition moved the Vote of No-Confidence and criticized the government  for its failure on all fronts of administration especially on economic fronts to check price rise, inflation and to bring Indian money in foreign banks back to India. She said on one hand the Rakshah of Corruption and on the other hand Dayan of Price Rise exploiting/ hurting the common people.  Speaking on the motion Aastha, the Minister of Finance, made every attempt to defend the government. She talked about the need to look economic issues from wider prospective. She argued the strong economic fundamentals of Indian Economy. She promised that soon the rising prices will come down.

Mr. Amandeep, criticised the government for its failure in the rural areas. Smt. Sarima, Minister for Rural Development highlighted various rural schemes of the government and appealed the house to vote against the Vote of No-Confidence.  Mr. Balkrishan also criticized the government for its failure on economic front.

Prime Minister Mr. Kanwarpreet Singh, tried to defend the government and talked about India’s strong economic fundamentals. He tried to show the seriousness of the government in controlling price rise and corruption.

Voting on the Motion: In the end voice voting was held on the Vote of No- Confidence Motion and Motion was defeated due to lack of support. The ruling party celebrated it with thumping of dusk. Finally with National Anthem, Speaker adjourned the house.

Judges: The event was evaluated by a jury of three judges- Sh. R.C Mohanty, Under Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, New Delhi, Sh. K.D. Bhandari, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Govt. of Punjab, Dr. Neeru Sharma,   Head, Department of Political Science, B.D.Arya Girls College, Jalandhar Cantt. . The jury appreciated the effort and encouraged the students to participate more in such programmes. Jury selected 8 students as best members of Youth Parliament, namely, Amanpreet Kaur, ,Pushmeet Singh, Amandeep, Kanwarpreet Singh, Balkrishan Thakur, Gursimrat Kaur, Aastha Arora, Arun Singh These students and Judges were honored by Principal Satish Kumar Sharma, Prof Kanwar Rajeev, Dean EMA, Prof Satish Tandon, Dr. Ashwani Sharma, Dr. B B Sharma  and other members of EMA.

On this occasion Prof Satish Tandon, former Vice Principal & Head, dept. of Political Science DAV College, Jalandhar and Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare, GNDU, Amritsar were presented as Guests of Honour. Prof. Kanwar Rajeev, Dean, EMA presented a Vote of Thanks. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Dinesh Arora and anchored by Prof. Sharad Manocha.

Commerce Forum organized “FRESHER’S EXTRAVAGANZA” on Aug. 20, 2011 in the college auditorium where students of M.COM II welcomed the students of M.COM I with great enthusiasm.

Function began with a floral welcome of Chief Guest Dr Satish K Sharma(Principal)and Guest of Honour Prof C B Gaur(Vice Principal) by staff and students of M.COM II. Lamp Lighting Ceremony was done by Prof C B Gaur, Prof Vijay Gupta, Prof Arun Mehra, Prof Manav Aggarwal, Prof.Ashok Kapoor.

Vice Principal in his speech appreciated Prof Manav Aggarwal (President), Prof Vijay Gupta, Prof Arun Mehra, Prof Rajiv Sharma, other staff members and students of M. COM II for arranging such a nice function to welcome students of M. COM I.

He also congratulated commerce department for keeping up the tradition of taking lead to hold fresher’s party.

He welcomed all students who had joined the institution and assured that they will keep alive traditions and values of D.A.V College.

He wished all the students of M. COM I a very happy stay in the college and hoped that they will continue holding top positions in the university.

Principal sir in his speech thanked commerce department for inviting him as a chief guest and welcomed new students of M. COM I.

He advised the students to adopt the habit of going to the library and maintaining regularity in the college.

He also hoped that they will work hard and get good results for the college and wished all the students success for their upcoming future.

Students of M.COM presented western dance performance. classical dance, Punjabi dance and stand by comedy which gathered a great applause from the audience.

Students of M.COM I participated in ‘Modeling Contest’ which was judged by Prof Arun Mehra,Prof V.K.Sareen,Prof Rajiv Puri and Madam Chetna.

The contest had 3 rounds Named ‘Interaction Round’,’Cat Walk Round’and’Question Answer Round’

Different tags were awarded to the students,tag of Miss Well Dressed &Mr. Well Dressed was won by Miss Rabia Batra & Mr Vimal Dhir, tag of Miss Elegant &Mr. Handsome was were won by Miss Subah Sharma & Mr Kewal. Miss Kanika & Mr Anshu Arora were given the title of Miss Talented &Mr. Talented.

 

Last but not the least Miss Harpreet Was crowned with the title of ‘Miss Fresher’ and Mr Jatin Gulati Was awarded the title of ‘Mr Fresher’.

Some exciting games were also arranged for the students of M.COM I like musical chair, making Tie knot by girls etc. and were enjoyed by all.

Token of love and appreciation was given to the students of M.COM I by their seniors.

At the end vote of thanks was given by Prof Manav Aggarwal (President Commerce Forum) whereby he thanked principal sir ,vice principal sir, all the staff members and the students for their support.

Commerce forum organized a function prizes.com for B.COM students on August 2^nd 2011. Chief Guest, Dr. Satish K Sharma, Principal and Prof. C.B Gaur, Vice Principal were given floral welcome by students and staff. The function began with lamp lighting ceremony by Principal Sir.

Dr. Satish K Sharma congratulated the position holders of session 2010-11 and also complimented the commerce faculty for the care and excellence provided by them.

Prof. C.B Gaur congratulated commerce forum to hold first function in the new auditorium and accredited principal sir for completion of such mega project in such a short span.

Prof. Manav Aggarwal, President Commerce forum presented a power point presentation highlighting the achievements of commerce department and faculty.

Meritorious students for the current session were honoured with trophies and also given certain scholarships .

Commerce forum team was formed and honoured with badges by Dr Satish K Sharma, Principal and Prof. C.B Gaur, Vice Principal, Prof. Manav Aggarwal, Prof. Arun Mehra, Prof. Rajeev Sharma.

Gems of the college Prof. V.K Sareen, Prof. Vijay Gupta, Prof. Arun Mehra, Prof. Amit Jain were honoured with trophies.

Video based quiz contest was conducted by Prof . Manish Arora where around 50 clippings were shown to the students where almost all the students participated and won exiting prizes
